Golf Cart Safety, Operation, Care & Maintenance

Please use the information below as guidelines when considering the safe use, operation and care & maintenance of your golf cart.

Driver MUST have a valid drivers license to drive on public roads.

  • Keep feet, legs, hands and arms inside the vehicle at all times.
  • One (1) occupant maximum per seat.
  • Always remain seated and hold on while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Avoid driving fast downhill. Sudden stops or change of direction may result in loss of control.
  • Use the brake to control speed when traveling down an incline.
  • Slow down before and during turns. All turns should be executed at reduced speed.
  • Always check behind you when reversing.
  • Use the parking brake whenever the vehicle is parked.
  • Always turn the key to “off” when leaving the vehicle.
  • Always yield to pedestrians, they have the right of way even on private property.
  • Slow down to normal walking speed when around pedestrians.
  • Always come to a complete stop at STOP signs
  • Obey all traffic laws and operate the vehicle responsibly.
  • Do not block walkways and/or entrances.
  • Make sure that the forward-neutral-reverse (f-n-r) lever is in neutral before starting the vehicle.
  • Always bring the vehicle to a complete stop before shifting the f-n-r lever.
  • Put the f-n-r lever to neutral when leaving the vehicle unattended.
  • Always park on flat ground.
  • Make sure that the vehicle is properly maintained (refer to golf cart operation and care & maintenance information).


BEFORE starting the vehicle
  • Check for correct tire inflation.
  • Inspect for fluid leaks.
  • Inspect battery fluid levels and make sure the batteries are not dry.

STARTING the vehicle
  • Apply the parking brake (top part of brake pedal).
  • Make sure that the forward-neutral-reverse (f-n-r) lever is in neutral before starting the vehicle.
  • Turn the key in the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
  • Move the f-n-r level to the desired direction (forward or reverse).
  • Release the parking brake by pressing the lower part of the brake pedal.
  • Press the accelerator pedal.
  • Always check behind you when reversing.

OPERATING the vehicle

  • Always remain seated and hold on while the vehicle is in motion.

  • Use the brake to control speed when traveling down an incline.
  • Slow down before and during turns. 
  • Always bring the vehicle to a complete stop before using the f-n-r lever.

STOPPING the vehicle
  • Always park on flat ground. 
  • Apply the parking brake.
  • Put the f-n-r lever to neutral.
  • Turn the ignition key to “OFF”.


BEFORE every use
  • Check for correct tire inflation.
  • Inspect for fluid leaks.
  • Inspect battery fluid levels and make sure the batteries are not dry.
  • Ensure master switch (under the seat) is turned to the “RUN” position.

AFTER every use
  • Apply parking brake
  • Ensure stereo and lights are turned off
  • Plug in charger
  • If vehicle is not going to be used for some time, turn the master switch to the “TOW” position

MONTHLY
  • Top up battery fluid levels using distilled water only
- Make sure that the batteries are fully charged first
- Remove the caps from each cell at the top of the battery
- Fill the battery to just below the ring in the cell neck
- If the battery is dry and not charged, fill with distilled water to cover the plates only, then charge, then top-up
  • Check battery connections
- Remove any corrosion (powdery stuff)
- Replace any damaged cables - cables should be flexible
- Tighten the nuts on the cable terminals
  • Check the charger
- Remove any corrosion
- Replace  (or trim back) any cords that are frayed or cracked
- Tighten the screws
